Helping ease palliative care in our community

Tri-club donation to the Palliative Care Unit at Shuswap Lake General Hospital.

The three Rotary Clubs in Salmon Arm, the Salmon Arm Rotary Club, the Salmon Arm Daybreak Rotary Club and the Shuswap Rotary Club, have joined together to make a significant donation to the Shuswap Hospital Foundation for the development of two designated palliative/end-of-life care rooms at Shuswap Lake General Hospital.

Doug Murray, Board President of the Shuswap Hospital Foundation was extremely pleased to be able to accept the donation of $15,000 from the Rotary Clubs in Salmon Arm, “we are very pleased to accept this generous donation from the three Rotary Clubs of Salmon Arm, this will bring our total donations to date to $52,000 which will go towards development of the much-needed palliative care facilities at Shuswap Lake General Hospital”.

The area on level two of the hospital is currently undergoing a significant upgrade to accommodate these two well-equipped palliative care rooms for patients and their families. Completion is expected in early Fall.

The three Rotary Clubs of Salmon Arm created a ‘Tri-Club’ committee to assist with this important palliative care project. This initial $15,000 donation was made while the three Rotary Clubs pursue grant options through the Rotary organization to increase their commitment to the palliative care initiative.
